Israel cannot 'force' US into Iran war at this point

Political analyst Dr. Kevin Barrett says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu currently does not have the power to force the United States to launch a military strike against Iran.

“I don’t think Israel at this point does have the power to force the US to go to war if the US is reluctant to,” Barrett told Press TV on Saturday.

“I think Israelis are really unhappy that they’re not getting their chance to work towards war on Iran,” he added.

During his speech at the UN General Assembly, Netanyahu tried to convince the international community that Iran is after building nuclear weapons.

After the hawkish Israeli prime minister ended his speech at the UN, Iran condemned his statements as “inflammatory.”

Iranian Deputy UN Ambassador Khodadad Seifi also warned Netanyahu against any miscalculation by planning to attack Iran in response to his threat of acting alone to stop the country’s nuclear energy program.

The United States, Israel, and some of their allies accuse Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.

Iran rejects the allegations, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
