US attack on Syria is an attack on Russia: Analyst

The United States and US-sponsored militants “staged” the recent chemical weapons attack in Syria and blamed it on the Syrian government to lay the groundwork for a military attack, Lihn Dihn said on Saturday.

Washington accuses the government of President Bashar al-Assad of launching a deadly chemical weapons attack on August 21. Damascus denies the allegation.

“This whole focus on chemical weapons has been a ruse for the US to attack Syria,”

“The US stated that it would attack Syria if it used chemical weapons, but the Syrian government has no need and no incentive to do this-Syria has been winning the war conventionally against the US-sponsored terrorists,” Dihn said.

“So the US and its terrorists staged the recent gas attack just to blame it on the Syrian government,” he added.

“The problem is hardly anyone believes the US’s ridiculous explanation, its accusation against the Syrian government without any evidence whatsoever, and even those who are sucked in by the American propaganda see no justification for an American attack on Syria.”

Dihn explained that the reason why the US is “so anxious to attack Syria has nothing to do with chemical weapons but a desire to get rid of Assad so a pipeline could be built to pump natural gas from Qatar to the European Union, thus reducing Europe’s dependence on Russian natural gas.”

“A new Syrian government would also get rid of the Russian naval base in Syria,” he added. “So, you see, an attack on Syria is actually an attack on Russia itself, and that’s why Russia is not backing down.”

US President Barack Obama will use his Tuesday's address to the United Nations in New York to demand that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad step down, according to US officials.

“The US government will keep imposing outrageous conditions on Syria, however, because its ultimate aim is to attack Syria,” Dihn concluded.
